Over the next month we are going to tackle one of the critical areas in achieving great results in our lives – goal maintenance.
It’s one thing to set inspiring goals, but keeping them alive over a period of time is another ball game altogether.
How many times have you started an exercise programme/a monthly budgeting process/a meditation practice… whatever, and you were excited and enthusiastic in the first few days. Then, as the novelty of the new goal wore off you found yourself conven... Continue reading...

In putting this piece together, I wondered what would be inspiring – both to write, and hopefully read – and it came up again; tell a story.
When I think of networking, I think of connecting, togetherness, sharing, magic and opportunities. As I have said before, “no man is an island, entire of itself…” If I share an apple with you I get less apple (but hopefully feel better!) but if I share an idea with you, we get way more than 1+1=2. We actually create infinite possibilities.
Netwo... Continue reading...

I don't know who said this but it is profound, simple, but very challenging (for me anyway, in certain areas.) What can you say "no" to in your life currently?I am saying no to things that are not essential the my goals. Watch this space! Continue reading...

No man is an island, entire of itself. John Donne, 17th Century.
Sometimes this world feels disparate and unconnected. It is as if we are on our own, fighting it out. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. We are made of the same cellular matter; we are connected. Therefore, any opportunity to connect that cellular energy and to move it in the right direction with a meaningful intention, can only be good.
Let me give you an example.
I was introduced to my new friend Alex Cresswell-S... Continue reading...

Why network?
Well, we are all one big network, connected with each other. If you don't network, nothing happens.
When we network, we: • Meet new people (and relationships are everything in life and business. I will repeat that. Everything!) • Get what we want, ultimately. • Contribute to others. • Learn new stuff. • Embark on a magical mystery tour. You just never know who you will meet or what will happen.
I think people misunderstand what networking is and is not:
• It is not about g... Continue reading...
Posted by Si Ekin on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 In : The 12 module blog posts
Each week, I am going to submit a blog post around one of my twelve core modules. We are now in September and with four months to go until the end of year, this module is NETWORKING. Yip, it is time to get out there from behind the desk, move away from the comfortable and be invited to go and network, even if it is just connecting with someone you have not done so for a while.
Each month the module will take the form of:
1. What is it? 2. Why do it? 3. Who should do it? 4. How should you do it? 5. ... Continue reading...

Herewith an excerpt from a conversation recently I had with a client. I was asking him what he was fearful of, regarding taking a major next step in his business. Here are the notes:
"I asked you, "what is the next step? What are you so scared of?" You said "the fear of getting into bed with the wrong person." i.e. making a mistake. I said I would send you something on how it is impossible to make mistakes: basically there is the no-win and the no-lose model. In the no-win model you are paraly... Continue reading...

I found this really funny... http://www.hayibo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/peace-keepers.jpgETHIOPIA. The African Union today adopted a unilateral resolution to deploy army troops and care packages to England as looting and violence spread from London to other major cities. Spokesperson Charity Khumalo said “We can no longer stand by while these savages tear themselves apart.” The AU, meeting today in an emergency session to discuss the ongoing rioting in the UK, has declared that they ... Day 90. 29th July.
Today is the last day. Actually, it is day 89 of 90 because of the one day I missed when I was sick, but I am making up that one tomorrow.
It seemed very strange coming to end of this marathon. Strange because at the beginning, like Mount Everest, it seemed such a long, long way off, and now, all of a sudden, I am at the summit and it is done. And part of me is asking, “is that it?” With the other half, trying to grasp the accomplishment of taking on my deepest fears ev... Continue reading...

Day 89. 28th July.
I went off to get some milk, cash and cough sweets, heading in the direction of Observatory and came back 90 minutes later.
And what a time I had!
Obs was absolutely kicking and vibey and I wondered what I had not been here before.
Did all my talks at the legendary Obz Café where I:
• Met two people I knew. • Encountered two who had attended my talks before (in a bar and at Pecha Kucha.) • Was asked to speak to the owner who wanted to know what I was doing. (Can’t reme... Continue reading...

Current Projects: 1st May - 30 July - 90 Talks In 90 Days Between 1st May and 30th July I embarked on a project: 90 talks in 90 days. I systematically confronted and shattered my deepest fears of rejection, failure and judgement in the hope of inspiring others to do the same. I blogged about it every day and had a crew film it once per week. It was a remarkable, delightful, challenging and absurd journey.
Why 90 Talks In 90 Days? Some years ago I got on a bus in Brixton, London and my life changed forever. I confronted my deepest fear: conquering my fear of rejection by making a speech to passengers on a packed number 59. I was stunned by the power I had within me and my ability to transform a group of complete, disparate strangers. Before, the crowd was positively funereal, after they were more like a rowdy wedding reception. On my way out, I was confronted by an extremely fearful individual and had an experience that makes me smile to this day. I learned that if you confront your fears (illusions) with courage, anything is possible. My life became about helping people to be courageous in pursuit of what is important to them. Here I am, above, doing the talk one morning on a bus at the airport here in Cape Town. Stand by - it might make your toes curl! For videos from the 90 days, look below.
